About Suzannah


Dr Suzannah Lipscomb is a Research Curator at Hampton Court Palace (Historic Royal Palaces), and was one of the lead curators responsible for creating a new visitor experience in the Tudor Palace to mark the 500th anniversary of Henry VIII's accession to the throne in 2009.


Suzannah was educated at Epsom College and at Lincoln College, Oxford. After taking a double first in Modern History and a distinction in her Masters in Historical Research, she was offered the Jowett Senior Scholarship at Balliol College, Oxford, to read her D.Phil. in history, which she was awarded in 2009.


In 2006-7, Suzannah was a Royal Historical Society Marshall Research Fellow at the Institute of Historical Research. She has also tutored history undergraduates at Oxford, lectured at Kingston University and taught A level history at Hurtwood House School.


In 2009, Suzannah co-organized ‘The Henry VIII Talks at Hampton Court Palace’, and a major three-day international academic conference on Henry VIII and the Tudor Court. Suzannah is editing a volume of essays from this conference, with Prof. Thomas Betteridge, for publication by Ashgate in 2011. Suzannah has appeared on BBC’s The One Show, ITV’s GMTV, Channel 4‘s Time Team, and the History Channel. She has presented BBC Radio 3’s The Essay, and contributed to numerous publications and radio programmes, including The Sunday Telegraph, History Today, and BBC Radio 4.


In September 2010, Suzannah will take up a post as a Lecturer in Early Modern British History at the University of East Anglia.

Suzannah’s other great love is India, a country she visits frequently to practice her Hindi. She lives in North Oxford.
